Dr. Rajeev Sooreea is Associate Dean and Professor of International Business in the Barowsky School of Business at Dominican University of California, USA. He has more than two decades of experience serving the U.S. and global communities as an academic leader in higher education, a global business strategist, an economist, and a researcher that focuses on innovative business models to create meaningful societal impact. As Associate Dean, Dr. Sooreea oversees programmatic innovation, program quality, curriculum development, and faculty research. He has led his school to secure AACSB accreditation--a recognition that only 6% of business schools worldwide have. Dr. Sooreea has been a key founding faculty for several business programs including a China Online MBA, an M.S. in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, an M.S. in Accounting with Analytics, an Executive Healthcare MBA, and a Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship program. Having served as the Founding Director of the Healthcare MBA program, the MBA Program Director, and the Director of Assessment, Dr. Sooreea is known for building organizational excellence and strategic partnerships. With a research interest that cuts across global business strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship, higher education management, and economic policy, Dr. Sooreea has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and presented at 25+ international conferences across North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa, including at Stanford University, University of Oxford, and the Academy of International Business. In addition to teaching as Dominican, Dr. Sooreea has taught at leading universities such as the University of California Berkeley and the Pennsylvania State University. Well-known for his use of the Harvard Case Method, he has led numerous students on global consulting trips and conferences to various countries: China, Vietnam, Taiwan and Australia, amongst others. He is a recipient of five Teaching Excellence awards and multiple research grants and awards including a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program fellowship. In the industry, Dr. Sooreea has several years of experience in business and management consulting. He has worked in an executive capacity in financial management for the Vice President of Finance and Chief Investment Officer at the W. K. Kellogg Foundation conducting fixed income securities and portfolio analysis and advised senior money managers in New York City. He has consulted with clients in San Francisco and overseas including HSBC, Barclays Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Hua Xia Bank, State Bank of India, and Mauritius Commercial Bank. Dr. Sooreea has also assisted in founding organizations internationally in the areas of business consulting and social entrepreneurship. Dr. Sooreea holds an Executive Doctorate in Higher Education Management (Ed.D.) from the University of Pennsylvania, a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from Western Michigan University, and a Master’s degree in Management and Finance from Harvard University, in addition to an M.A. in Economics from Leeds University Business School from the U.K. and a B.A. (Honors) in Economics from St. Xavier’s College of Bombay University, India. He also holds an Executive Education in Business Analytics from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
